Pioneering the First Interactive Beer Contract: Legal Design in Action

Sep 24, 2025

Innovation in law isn’t about chasing shiny trends. It’s about creating real value for people and businesses. Few embody this better than Teresa Parada Cano Lasso. With over 20 years of experience in national and international firms, recognized twice by Iberian Lawyer as one of the Top 50 Most Inspiring Women in the Legal Sector, Teresa is a lawyer of the “new law.”

Today, at Heineken Spain, she has led the creation of the first interactive beer contract on the market, powered by the contract and legal design methodology.

Innovation Rooted in People First

As Teresa shared in her recent LinkedIn post“Innovation is not about collecting trends. To innovate is to know the trends, understand the company you advise and the context in which it operates, and generate value for the business without falling into invention.”

This philosophy came to life at the Inkietos Awards, where she discussed her pioneering work. For Teresa, innovation in law means:

  • Putting people at the center.
  • Making rights accessible and understandable.
  • Building bridges between law and business.

And as she rightly points out, this is what mobilizes will, creates alignment, and generates real impact.

How Legal Design sparked the transformation

The interactive beer contract at Heineken was not born from abstract theory, it was the result of applying practical legal design methods. By using a human-centered approach, Teresa and her team was able to move beyond dense legal jargon and create a contract that is interactive, accessible, and people-focused. Instead of slowing down negotiations, the contract now works as a bridge between business and legal teams, reducing friction, aligning interests, and creating clarity. This project shows how when legal design is put into practice, contracts stop being obstacles and start becoming enablers of value and collaboration.

Teresa highlighted how much of our Contract and Legal Design Program is embedded in this project. This is exactly what makes this program different: it’s not theoretical. It’s hands-on, practical, and designed to enable you to apply what you learn to real-world projects immediately. That’s why 100% of our graduates report feeling confident to apply legal design right away.

For Teresa, this meant she wasn’t just learning about contract design, she was building it in practice. And the results speak for themselves: an industry-first contract that reshapes how business partners engage with Heineken.

What’s Next

While the interactive beer contract itself isn’t public, the impact is. Teresa’s pioneering project proves that when legal professionals combine curiosity, creativity, and the right methodology, the outcomes are transformative.

And this is only the beginning. We can’t wait to see what Teresa creates next. She’s part of our global graduate community, and we’ll continue to support her every step of the way, with a collaborative space to further her expertise.

Congratulations, Teresa, for showing what’s possible when legal design meets vision and courage.
